Dale Earnhardt, Sr. (1951 - 2001) Legend in Stock car racing (NASCAR). While driving in the 2001 Daytona 500, Earnhardt died in a last-lap crash at Daytona International Speedway on February 18, 2001.

From a distance, the three-dimensional mosaics look like a textured painting, but closer examination reveals an unexpected landscape of hidden words, phrases and quotes intimately related to the work.
